Get back on that horse and ride! This is my first jewelry post in while: I’ve been writing and researching FL history for presentations, and that may have led me to the vintage look of this 30″ necklace. The bronze heart is handcrafted from BronzClay. The clay is rolled out and textured (in this case, with a rubber stamp of cogs and machine parts) carved into a heart and fired at about 1700 F . It comes out a warm goldish color and very hard. All holes for attachment, etc. must be preplanned. Drilling and punching last minute thoughts into this metal is not a possibility or at least its’s not a very good one.
Steam Punk is the juxtaposition of vintage elements–in this case my red, red, red floral hand painted beads, old keys and cogs– with the modern look of bronze clay.
Searching Tropical Steam Punk was a trip. It threw up images of young men planning their warm weather outfits which consisted of white linen suits and pith helmets. My outfits are not quite that dramatic, the hand painted plumeria on the beads looks tropical to me. It’s a nice accessory for a wide range of looks.
