Talisman and amulets open a different perspectives on jewelry. Instead of simply being personal adornment, they represent protection and good luck for the wearer. This is an unusual Thai amulet–the Buddha is riding a lion’s head. The interpretation depends on the viewer, but to me the combination of a graceful Thai Buddha image, rough copper bezel, chain and metal beads (and the lion’s head) represent bravery and a little different edge to the stereotype of a peaceful Buddha image. The rustic copper setting enhances the gold-washed rough amulet. This is a long necklace–about 24 inches–and opens and closes with hand crafted copper hook and eye clasp.
